What to Watch in the Theater:
Captain Underpants (PG) is in theaters now. Fun family animation about a couple of kid pranksters getting the better of their mean principal. Great voice cast and animation. We debate whether this is just harmless escapism or it encourages young offenders.

The Mummy (PG13) opens today. Quite different from the 1999 Mummy, but not an unwelcome one. It has some thrilling action scenes, good scares and a very evil villain, plus a bonus twist involving a familiar literary figure. Interested to see how the rest of Universal’s new Dark Universe plays out.

What to Watch at Home (Or Not):
East Side Sushi (PG) Compelling story about a single mother overcoming adversity and racism. A little predictable, but worth rooting for the underdog in this sweet film.
