Diary of a Wimpy Kid: The Long Haul (PG) opens today. Fun family road trip film featuring some gross-out humor and questionable parenting. New cast does an admirable job taking over for previous cast.

Alien: Covenant (R) opens today. We recommend you see 2012’s Prometheus first, for the first part of the prequel trilogy, or you may be a bit lost. Lots of danger, gore and twists in this one. We’re looking forward to seeing what happens next.

What to Watch at Home (Or Not):
Handsome: A Netflix Mystery Movie (TV-14) Jeff Garlin put a lot into this project, as writer, director and star. We were split on this one – with one of us seeing the potential for a series here, and the other finding it a bit caricature-ish and not funny enough.
