Stealthy with a Side of Quirk

What to Watch in the Theater:
American Assassin (R) is in theaters now. This special ops adventure, based on a book series (which we are not familiar with), is a good introduction to the main character, Mitch Rapp. Although violent, the story was compelling, well-acted and moved along quickly. We (except Jen – it’s not her kind of movie) would gladly watch more in the series, if they continue.
Our rating: 3.67 out of 5

Kingsman: The Golden Circle (R) opens today. This sequel features a lot of explosions from the get go, plus new characters and locations, but the same over-the-top attitude as the first. With the violence and quirkiness maybe even escalated this time around, it was an enjoyable ride, but we were split on whether it was as good as the first.
Our rating: 4 out of 5

What to Watch at Home (Or Not):
Jeff Dunham: Relative Disaster (TVMA) Unfortunately this Netflix original had us yearning for Jeff’s earlier work, as this one featured way too much swearing and wasn’t as funny as his other specials. We’re still big fans, but disappointed in this one.
Our rating: 2 out of 5

We also share Jennifer’s interviews with the cast and filmmakers at The LEGO Ninjago Movie premiere, which you can watch here.
